How to Get a Gemini API Key

Go to Google AI Studio

First, you need to visit the official Google website where the AI tools live. You will need to sign in with your normal Gmail account.

You will see a screen like this:

Find the "Get API key" Button

Once you are inside, look at the top-left corner of the screen. You are looking for a blue button that says "Get API key".

Look for this button on the screen:

Create the Key

A menu will pop up. You want to click the first option: "Create API key in new project". This is the easiest way.

Select the highlighted option:
Create API Key
+ Create API key in new project

+ Create API key in existing project

Copy Your Key

After a few seconds, your key will appear. It is a long string of random letters. Click the Copy button next to it.

Your key looks like this:
